What is Link Popularity?
Many of the top search engines and directories rank web sites according
to how many links there are that point to that site. This is called
inbound links. Google considers link popularity to be an major
important factor in their ranking algorithm.
However ! What is an important matter for you to realize that the
quantity of link does not as important as the quality of those inbound
links !
But ! how does these ranking measure ?
Search engines (Google, AltaVista, Lycos, etc.) rank web pages
according to their link popularity, which is determined by the number
as well as quality of other sites linking to a certain site. In other
words, it is important to have quality inbound links to your site. For
example, it is way more important and acceptable to have a link from
the home page of www.microsoft.com to your site than having someone's
personal home page link to you.
Some engines also rank according to how many outgoing links are on the
site . A site that has many outgoing hyperlinks is considered an
authority. these links need to be going to sites in a similar area or
field of interest for that site to be considered an authority.
Relevance of links is an extremely important issue. It's best if the
sites linking to and from you are related in theme to your site.
We can help you increase your link popularity by contacting related,
non-competitive sites for exchanges. A very effective way of doing this
is creating a Theme Link Directory or Portal. Another way is a focused
Link Exchange Campaign.
Almost all major search engines and directories today use link
popularity to determine at least a portion of your ranking; thus, if
you don't have any link to your site, it is almost impossible for your
site to get a decent search engine ranking. Let us help you to build
your site link structure !
